Starting your data table

You can start a data table from any page within the BOATPro app by clicking on the menu icon in the top left corner and then clicking on 'New Widget':

You will start with a basic table showing a list of yachts, such as the one below:

Adding fields to your table

The table builder will automatically load 10 yachts to start you off. You can add fields from the list on your right:

There are over 120 fields available in BOATPro. Descriptions of all fields can be found in the glossary here. Fields are grouped into parent categories, and you can open up a category by clicking on it:

Once you have selected a field you will see it marked with a black border, and the field will be added to the table:

Moving and removing columns

You can move columns around by dragging on the table header containing the column names:

You can remove a column by clicking on the 3-dot menu and select 'Remove':

Calculating columns

You can calculate different fields to generate counts of text fields (e.g. create a count of the number of yachts), or to do mathematical calculations on numerical fields (e.g. average of length overall). There is a full guide to field calculations here.ย

Filtering your table

If you want to filter your results then you can do so by moving to the filtering stage. You don't need to filter results before you preview or save, this is an optional stage. There is a full guide to filtering here.

Previewing and saving your table

When you are ready, you can save your table by clicking on the 'Save' button in the top right corner:

You will see a popup window appear. Choose a name for the table widget, and select Save (Tip: make sure to choose a descriptive name to help you find the report later):

Once the widget saves you will see a confirmation message such as the one below, where you can decide whether you want to stay on this page and continue editing this widget or table, or if you want to go to your list of Saved Widgets, where you can view, edit, delete and organise all the different widgets you create over time. There is no limit to the number of widgets you can create.
